Welcome to our Blog - Keeping up With True Crime

Welcome to the new weekly blog Keeping up with True crime brought to you by Murder with My mother!

As mentioned on our most recent episode, we will be bringing you some weekly headlines and stories from the true crime community. This allows you to keep up to date with some of the biggest things going on in the world of Crime. As we are currently not able to bring you episodes as often as most of you would like (sorry; duh we are Canadian so of course we are going to apologize) we figured we would have this blog to atleast get your true crime fix and information weekly. Of course, as we are Canadian and in Canada, it is not totally broadcasted on all our daily apps that we consume ourselves with.. so people are missing out on things that we think should be broadcasted to you AT LEAST weekly, without having to go searching too hard to it.

So firstly, if you have found yourself on our blog, we welcome you! We also welcome you to go and dive into our episodes. A little back story on MWMM just to get you familiar with us and what we are about. I am Denika, and I am the daughter of the two. My mother, Christie is my co-host, and together we bring you monthly episodes that detail a horrific case where someone has been murdered. We like to keep the Victims at the forefront of the story, as we know these people are so much more than just murder victims, and we know that sometimes the way we leave the world is unfortunately the way people remember you. We want to change that, and bring awareness to how people lived before they were taken too soon. Most of our more recent episodes have focused on the lapse in our Canadian ‘Justice’ system, as we have seen the same theme with most of these cases; Repeat-Violent offenders being let out into our Canadian Communities over, and over again. This in turn allows for justice for the Criminals, but rarely do families really get the justice for their loved ones. These criminals are usually out before their sentences are over, and are always considered for parole at no later than 25 years. We want to change this. We want to keep criminals where they belong, and we also believe that if you commit an offence where the likelihood of you to re-offend (violently and usually escalating) is greater than the chance of you to rehabilitate, that you should STAY in jail, or at least some kind of facility that will keep the members of our communities safe.

We understand that people have rights as Canadians, but we also believe that if you rape, murder, commit sexual offenses towards children or anyone.. you probably should atleast stay monitored for the rest of your life and that your ‘rights’ should not totally be considered. Bail reform is definitely something that we here at Murder with my Mother believe needs a BIG second, third and fourth look. What is happening in our country currently is unacceptable. If you go and listen to any of our episodes, you will definitely notice a theme here in Canada. ‘Good behaviour’ resulting in day passes after raping and murdering a child, when you should clearly be in Jail for the rest of your life and nothing you do should be considered ‘good’ after exhibiting behavior so horrific and vile. If you are even capable of committing these heinous acts in the first place, what is keeping our communities safe from you re-offending? And why are these criminals just allowed to freely roam and seek out further victims? Most of these offenders have always had these kinds of thoughts and usually act on them. What is stopping these criminals from these committing these opportunistic attacks that they are given the opportunity to commit in the first place? The Justice system certainly is not and we need to see a change.
