Serial Killer Robert Pickton ELigible For Day Parole - Victims Families hold Vigil

On Wednesday February 21 there was a vigil held  at a scene that once held so much horror and continues to for families and those closest to the victims of Robert Pickton.

This came in response to the parole board of Canada announcing that the prolific Serial murderer would be eligible for day parole the following day, February 22nd.

This is issue we feel so strongly about and continue to because nothing is changing.

Why should he have the chance to apply for day parole? It’s absolutely disgusting that someone convicted of this magnitude of crimes would even be considered at all, EVER,  let alone after such a short period of time. Someone who is convicted of 6 murders, linked to over 30 and suspected of over 50 murders gets a chance to revicttimize the families he had already out through unthinkable hell..  Although no date date has been set for a day parole hearing, this does not stop the families from reliving all the horror they had been through throughout the years. And when and if he does apply for day parole, the families will once again have to face him.

Also, while  unfortunately on the topic of this piece of shit, we also wanted to add that RCMP is trying to get rid of a lot of evidence that was taken from that horrible place. While we know that that is probably not their brightest shining moment, and they would like to erase the fact that any of that happened (VPD mostly), this evidence is important in any further justice related to missing and murdered women who have not had their death ‘directly’ linked to that SOB. So destroying evidence would then in turn destroy any hope that this one day might be used against him. Although with the justice system that would even CONSIDER this fucker eliglible for parole is already a huge miscarriage of justice, although doubtful in this country, we hope that one day these women are vindicated.

The RCMP has asked the court for permission to dispose of 14,000 pieces of evidence collected during its probe into former Port Coquitlam pig farmer Robert (Willie) Pickton, the target of the largest serial killer investigation in Canadian history.

The move is opposed by 40 groups and individuals, who say the items seized in this historic case are important and should be kept in storage. Beyond the six women Pickton was convicted in 2007 of murdering, more than two dozen unsolved missing women files have been linked by DNA to the farm.

There are also 30 more women who vanished from the Downtown Eastside — Pickton’s hunting grounds — and many of them match the timeframe and life circumstances of his known victims.

“For the families of those victims, justice has been elusive, and they still hold hope that one day they will know what happened to their loved ones. Disposal of the exhibits will quash any remaining hope they have and solidify their perception that their daughters, mothers, sisters and aunties are less important than the space required to keep that evidence,” said a letter signed by the 40 national and provincial organizations and individuals.

Organizers sent a letter to the federal public safety minister, the provincial attorney general and solicitor general, and the RCMP commissioner, asking them to preserve the evidence, much of which was seized during the 18-month-long search of Pickton’s farm in 2002 and 2003.
